| The Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico,
with its jungles and Mayan Ruins is a place of great mystery and beauty.
Those who wish to get away from Cancun and its big hotels and crowds
can find peaceful beaches to swim and snorkel at and ancient pyramids to
climb. Small colorful shops, hotels and restaurants can be found along the
Riviera Maya coast. Several eco parks along the coast including Xcaret and
Xel Ha are wonderful places to observe tropical and jungle animals such as
parrots, macaws, flamingos, monkeys and jaguars. These parks typically are
built around inland lagoons which have underground channels to the sea,
allowing marine life to enter. These lagoons create sheltered places where
snorkelers can observe marine life in a sheltered environment. Our Yucatan
picture collection includes photos from Akumal, Playa Del Carmen, Tulum,
Coba, Chichen Itza and more.
